  15. Epitome Updates Redmark Software for NEXTSTEP
  16.  
  17. Knoxville, TN; April 15, 1993 -  Epitome Incorporated announced today the
  18. release and shipment of the latest update to their Redmark on-screen document
  19. markup software for NEXTSTEP. Epitome also announced their commitment to
  20. release, in June, a version of Redmark that runs under NEXTSTEP for Intel
  21. processors.

  23. Redmark is Epitome's innovative software package that provides on-screen
  24. markup for all types of documents. Unlike the annotation tools provided in
  25. other applications (which only work with that application's documents),
  26. Redmark marks up all types of documents (word processing, page layout,
  27. illustration, spreadsheet, ...) with one application. Redmark is able to do
  28. this by using a "print image" PostScript file of the document being reviewed.
  29. Reviewers place comments into transparent overlays using sticky (Post-it)
  30. notes, voice recordings, text annotations, standard proofreading symbols, and
  31. drawn or imported graphics. Redmark is as simple to use as marking on paper
  32. with a red pencil. With Redmark, a completely paperless document review cycle
  33. is now possible.

  35. The newly released version 1.1 of Redmark is fully compatible with NEXTSTEP
  36. 3.0. In a major enhancement, users can now customize the palette of
  37. proofreading marks with their own PostScript images. Version 1.1 also gives
  38. users more flexibility in configuring Redmark's functionality through several
  39. new preferences. Of course, Redmark 1.1 is upward compatible with all
  40. documents produced by previous versions.

  42. Redmark 1.1 is being sent free to all registered users. The list price of the
  43. new version remains unchanged at $285, with discounts for educational
  44. institutions and multi-user site licenses.

  46. In June, Epitome will release a version of Redmark that will operate on both
  47. Motorola and Intel-based computers under NEXTSTEP 3.1. Al Johnson, Epitome's
  48. president, says that this "... represents our continuing commitment to
  49. supporting NEXTSTEP as the best operating system for networked productivity
  50. applications."
